See how multi-year content maps and expedition planning supports differentiation for a range of ages, grades, abilities, and language levels. Teachers will share practical and concrete examples of how to leverage limited resources and opportunities to provide fieldwork, service learning, and connections to learning beyond the classroom setting. Experience the ways curriculum and state and federal expectations (standards) are adapted to meet the challenges unique to small rural schools. Focus on Instruction: Experience how school-wide structures and intentional instructional strategies are used to support English Language Learners, Title I students, students with exceptional needs, GT students within every multi-grade, multi-age classroom. Includes structures and strategies for analyzing data in a small school for the purpose of improving instruction. Focus on Character and Crew Whole School K-12 CREWs along with the daily classroom CREW structures are key to a strong school culture in a small school. Participate in a conversation with community members about practical ways to involve local and regional experts in the school community. Learning Targets · I can identify ways that EL Core Practices can be adapted to fit a small rural school setting to meet the needs of all learners. · I can identify how content maps, planning documents, and learning targets in multi-age classrooms make learning expeditions accessible for all learners. · I can identify structures and instructional strategies that support a culture of differentiated instruction and/ or inclusion. · I can describe the importance of crew in developing strong habits of work and creating respect for school culture in all students. |
